Donations

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul provides assistance to those in need through the sales of items in its Saint Vincent de Paul Thrift Store. However the request for assistance in Fayette County, Pennsylvania is so great that more funds are needed. People wishing to aid in providing assistance can do so in four ways.

First - Prayers are needed to strengthen us to carry out God’s will and to provide for those in need.

Second - Clothes, furniture, household goods and donations of non-perishable food are appreciated. Many people, clearing homes due to annual spring-cleaning or the settling of estates, have helped in this manner.

Third - Those wishing to make monetary contributions can do so by making a donation to the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul. Your contribution provides direct assistance to those in need.

Your contribution in the amount below can help provide this type of typical assistance.

  • $15 = an emergency supply of gasoline to enable a person to maintain their job.
  • $50 = one week's emergency food supply for a family.
  • $75 = one month's medication for a chronic illness
  • $100 = one month's emergency utility payment
  • $250 = rent assistance to avoid an eviction

Fourth - Larger contributions can be placed in the Monsignor Aloysius L. Zwolinski Grant Fund.

The Fund was initially established through a bequest of the late Monsignor Aloysius L. Zwolinski. Its purpose is to assist those in exceptional need with grants in the amount of $300 to $1,000. Examples of how these funds can be used are in reestablishing a family into an apartment after a fire, provide a burial for a person without family, assistance in avoiding termination of utilities in the winter, or provide medical assistance to a person in dire need.

To be eligible:

  1. Recipient must be a resident of southern Fayette County, PA whose income is at or below the Federal poverty level or who is otherwise adjudged to be poor.
  2. Recipient must be an individual or family rather than an organization.
  3. Recipient must have a documented financial need that cannot be met in a complete or timely way through public funds, family or other existing service organizations.
